- St. Anne’s Shandon Church: or commonly called the Shandon Bells, Cork cities oldest church can be seen towering above rooftops from the City below it in the south, contains 8 bells which visitors can ring from the first floor.
- St Fin Barre’s Cathedral: a spectacular example of mid 18th century French Gothic architecture this lavish cathedral located near the grounds of U.C.C. is one of Cork’s most recognisable landmarks and is one of the finest examples of religious architecture of its kind in Europe containing many artefacts and a beautifully managed garden.
- UCC: Corks answer to Oxford and standing on vast and magnificent grounds just a few minutes’ walk from the city centre, holds parks, statues and buildings of natural historical and contemporary style, on campus also holds the Lewis Glucksman Art Gallery with over 350 works in its collection and holding many art exhibitions throughout the year.
- Blackrock Castle Observatory: a 16th century castle with an astronomy centre, holds an exhibition themed “The Search for Extreme Life in the Universe” a virtual and interactive tour of the universe, the stars, and the cosmos the highlight being the chance to beam a composed message into space in the hope of making contact!
The Observatory is situated just across the river from one of Cork’s best hotels the Silver Springs.
- Patrick Street – Be at the heart of the retail sector of Cork city with a walk down Cork’s main thoroughfare which along with its side streets holds all the main highstreet shops for your all your retial needs.
- Cork City Gaol: Once a refuge for sufferers of the Gaol fever and then a womans prison now a popular tourist destination with a prison tour featuring wax statues and staged cells that resonate the eeriness of being an inmate in a 19th century prison.
- English Market: is a popular indoor food market for both local and international visitors set in an historic building showcasing the best in Victorian architecture and theme, established in 1788, it is renowned for its diverse range of prime cut meats and fresh fish, tropical fruit, fine wine merchants, and other niche delicacies.
- Crawford Art Gallery: a magnificent example of Georgian architecture in Cork city dating back to 1724 the gallery conbines a strong collection of 18th & 19th century Irish and European art with modern art exhibitions throughout the year, also noted for the collection of classical Greek and Roman statues within cast by renowned Italian sculptor Antonio Canova.
- Cork Opera House: The centrally located theatre with 1,000 seats is home to many great productions throughout the year, not just opera but also Irish standup comedy, dramas, classical dance, and musicians while the Half Moon Theatre within provides entertainment for the younger crowd with live concerts and djs.
- Franciscan Well Brewery : a local brewery that brews its very own unique beers including stout, ale, wheat beers, and lagers, with a massive open plan beer garden it offers the best chance to taste locally made beer unique to Cork.
